Obese persons who want to have weight loss surgery or already had it should be happy because October 1, 2010 was the date when a new comprehensive program to support bariatric surgery patients was launched in Connecticut at the Griffin Hospital; a program open for anybody, regardless of when and where their surgery was performed, named the Support Service Program. Several extra services and programs will start on January 1, 2011. What can be expected before December 31 is a ton of exercise programs, support groups, potlucks, nutritional and behavioral counseling, walking in the morning and so on.
The named patients must also know that Griffin Hospital Bariatrics has also launched the ''Back on Track" program, designed for patients who are at least 6 months after surgery. During this program, it is possible to participate in cooking demonstrations, exercise classes or meditation and you can talk about psychological issues, you can learn to manage stress and also get nutrition tips. You will notice that during these activities you can bond with other patients with similar problems and will develop coping strategies, so that you can face the changes in your life, mood swings and many more.
Erlich Bariatrics is proud to be named Griffin Hospital's partner, especially as they share the same commitment to patient care. One example is the support groups created, so that you can share your fears and your feelings and get advice from persons going through similar experiences. If you decided to have either lapband surgery, gastric bypass or gastric sleeve surgery in Connecticut, or you just need extra information, register for a free seminar or request a consultation with Dr. Ehrlich.
